If you have been to a SecTalks event before, more of the same. If you haven’t been to a SecTalks event, expect an informal meetup for anyone from the most experienced security professionals to people looking to get in the infosec industry.
Talk: Gold Coast’s very own Paul McCarty, Founder of SecureStack, will be presenting “Why are modern web applications so hard to secure?”.
The types of web applications that many teams are building didn’t exist 5 years ago. They often run mostly in the browser using technologies like Javascript. These apps often talk directly to many of their dependencies like AWS resources, identity providers, and database engines. This means that many of the ways that we’ve secured web applications in the past don’t work anymore as the application attack surface has moved to the browser.
In this talk, Paul will move through the layers of the modern web application and define the new places to concentrate on, that provide the most value to DevSecOps teams.
Drinks and food will be provided by our sponsors, Bugcrowd and CyberSec People.
