Cohort Innovation Space, the Queensland Government’s coworking, innovation and laboratory space at Lumina has launched a Women in Tech Initiative that will support three women or non-binary people by providing them with access to coworking space, workshops, and personalised connections to help them break the barriers to success.

Backed by the Queensland Government, through Economic Development Queensland (EDQ), the initiative aims to strengthen participation of women in the innovation ecosystem, who face challenges regarding starting and scaling their business and accessing funding and investor opportunities.

Successful applicants will receive:

  • An unlimited coworking membership for six months (valued at $2,700 + GST each)
  • Three 1-hour mentoring sessions with a business coach
  • Entry into the 2021 Start Club, a set of peer learning workshops with likeminded founders (valued at $240 + GST each)
  • Access to Cohort’s Partner Perks including credits from AWS, Airwallex, Hubspot, Stripe and Miro
  • End of program business lunch with a prominent female founder

CoSpaces General Manager Ariana Margetts said applications are now open for the program, and Cohort are expecting interest to be high.

“The recent LuminaX Accelerator program received a huge amount of interest. We accepted ten applicants, and over the course of the 14-week program almost $1 million in capital was raised from these health tech startups.

“With Women in Tech, Cohort’s aim to assist women or non-binary people to grow their start-up businesses or launch new products by providing 6 months’ coworking space, peer-learning support, mentorship and education,” Ms Margetts said.

“Cohort is an inclusive, vibrant workplace and we look forward to welcoming the successful program participants into our ecosystem, and inspiring the next generation of technological leaders by showcasing and promoting the inspiring women already working within the technology sector.”

The Women in Tech Initiative adds to the existing suite of business support and innovation programs that Cohort Innovation Space already offers, including the Founders Club, the LuminaX Accelerator and Startup Grind series.

Applications close 31 August 2021 at 5pm AEST.
